Most girls enjoy a night out on the town for their 21st birthday. Mine was no different, except that I chose to surround myself with French bloggers as opposed to college friends and vodka shots. After convincing my professors that field research was essential to my independent study on French politics and the internet, I found myself in Paris’ 1st district, drinking champagne and debating the merits of Sarkozy versus Ségolène with the celebrities of France’s political blogosphere at their monthly pre-election rendez-vous. That night, I earned the fitting nickname “Alicia l’Américaine”. When I won a flight back to Paris that December for Loïc Le Meur’s LeWeb Conference, this blog was born.
You can gleam most of my personality from what’s already written here. As for my professional path, I graduate from Georgetown University in May, and have no idea where life will lead me afterward. The pieces will fall as they may, but I can guarantee you that I’ll be passionate about whatever I’m doing. As my best friend Katie says, I “follow my obsessions." I prefer to say I follow my heart. So far it’s led me to some pretty cool places, from the French Embassy to Seesmic to the KANE Show.
